December 13-19, 2025. Dubai.
The international backgammon tournament Arabian Grand Prix 2025 has come to an end in Dubai, becoming one of the largest and most representative sporting events of 2025.
The competition was held under the auspices of the International Backgammon Federation (IBF), recently headed by Umar Nazarovich Kremlev, and brought together more than 200 athletes from 36 countries, surpassing the figures of IBF’s debut event — the Armenian Grand Prix.
The tournament took place on a large-scale venue featuring over 100 tables, continuous live broadcasts, an international professional refereeing team, and full technical support.
A total of 10 disciplines were included in the program, covering both main and additional formats.
The additional prize fund amounted to USD 70,000, while the total prize pool reached USD 251,655, significantly exceeding the prize money of the previous IBF tournament in Armenia.
Athletes from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America took part in the competition. Winners and prize-winners represented Japan, Germany, Russia, Georgia, Iran, Argentina, Turkey, Great Britain, Armenia, and other countries.
The age range of participants spanned from 18 years old to over 60, highlighting the universality of backgammon as an intellectual sport.
