About the tournament

80% of the collected fees in each tournament go to the prize fund (a 20% tax is charged according to the tax legislation of Armenia).

The additional prize fund will be $50,000 and will be distributed as follows:

  • Conventions: matches up to 7 points Upper Bracket,  to 5 points Lower Bracket, to 7 points Super Final

Doubles
  • Tournament system: Single-elimination
  • Conventions: matches up to 7 points, finals to 9 points, timing: 17.5 minutes + 12 seconds
  • Additional prize fund: $7,500
  • Entry fee (per pair): $300


Longgammon among men
  • Tournament system: Single-elimination
  • Conventions: matches up to 7 points with timing: 19 min. + 8 sec. (without breaks)
  • Additional prize fund: 200 000₽
  • Entry fee: 7,000₽

Important information

  • Due to the limited number of places in each category, we strongly recommend that you register in advance to reserve your place. Contact:mailto:reg@i-bg-federation.com
  • The tournament organizer reserves the right to reject applications for participation without explanation, since the event is held by invitation only of the International Backgammon Federation.
  • Tournament matches take precedence over all other forms of play. Playing matches for money is not permitted.
  • All participants must be in the playing area at the pre-announced start time of their matches to avoid penalty points.
  • The use of precision pits, baffle boxes, clocks, score counters and official tournament boards is mandatory, all equipment provided by the organizers.
  • Only cash payments are accepted on site.
  • If a player wishes to leave the playing area during a tournament, he must notify the tournament director. Failure to do so may result in penalty points being awarded.
  • Daily lunch break from 16:00 to 17:00.
  • Trophies will only be presented during the awards ceremony.
  • Smoking is prohibited in the competition venue, except in designated areas.
  • All players must adhere to the dress code.

Results of the International Backgammon Tournament «Armenian Grand Prix 2025»

From August 27 to 31, Yerevan hosted the most anticipated event of the year in the world of backgammon — the debut International Tournament «Armenian Grand Prix 2025», organized by the International Backgammon Federation (IBF) with the support of the Backgammon Federation of Armenia.

The tournament was held at the Marriott Hotel Yerevan and brought together more than 150 participants from 16 countries, including Russia’s leading athletes — national champions and holders of the Russian Cup in recent years.

The prize fund amounted to 65,400 USD for the Backgammon disciplines and 22,240 USD for the Longgammon disciplines.

The vibrant closing ceremony was led by Tournament Director Arda Findikoglu. Congratulations were delivered by Tatiana Komarova, President of the International Backgammon Federation, Atsamaz Arsagov, Sports Director of the IBF, Khachik Melikyan, President of the Backgammon Federation of Armenia, and Mehak Apresyan, President of the Armenian Tourism Federation.

The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to the general partner of the tournament — Natali pharmacy + care, the largest pharmacy chain in Armenia, whose support made it possible to hold the event at such a high level.

Women’s (32 participants)

  • 1st place – Oksana Gaiazova (Russia)

  • 2nd place – Leyla Zaloutskaya (USA)

  • 3rd place – Elena Gromenkova (Russia) and Sholeh Mohammadi (Sweden)

The International Backgammon Federation warmly congratulates all winners and prize-winners of the 1st Armenian Grand Prix. This tournament has become not only a landmark sporting event but also a true celebration of friendship, unity, and fair competition.
