Russian Backgammon Player Wins Nearly $80,000: Prestigious Asian Grand Prix Tournament Concludes in Dushanbe

The International Backgammon Federation (IBF), led by President Umar Kremlev, successfully held the Asian Grand Prix competitions.

Athletes from over 30 countries - a total of 318 participants - competed across 12 disciplines, with a total prize pool of $500,000. The largest winnings were claimed by the winners of the main short backgammon (Alexey Ignarin, Russia) and long backgammon (Talaibek Aimbetov, Kyrgyzstan) tournaments - $76,000 and $28,000 respectively.

The IBF admires the stunning level of skill, the drive to win, and the character displayed by the athletes throughout the tournament days. The Asian Grand Prix Organizing Committee thanks the host side - the Government of Tajikistan, the administration of Dushanbe, and the Tajikistan Backgammon Federation - for their trust and readiness to host international competitions on their ancient land, as well as for the warm welcome, hospitality, and ideal conditions provided for the players.
