Today, at the Congress of the International Backgammon Federation, an important decision was made for the future of our intellectual sport.
The event brought together 38 delegates from around the world. By unanimous decision of the full members Umar Nazarovich Kremlev has been elected President of the International Backgammon Federation.
Before the vote, Umar Nazarovich delivered an inspiring speech in which he outlined his vision for the global development of backgammon and all the intellectual games — from strengthening international cooperation to expanding adult competitions and introducing children’s tournaments, as well as promoting backgammon and all the mind games .
His experience speaks for itself. As President of the International Boxing Association (IBA), he implemented major reforms, raising governance standards, transparency, athlete support, and the international standing of the federation. Now this extensive expertise will be directed toward the development of backgammon worldwide.
IBF is proud that a leader of this stature will guide the federation. We are confident that under his leadership, backgammon will reach new heights, expand its global footprint, strengthen its position in the international sports community, and move closer to becoming the world’s most prominent intellectual sport.
